On the verge: James Otto is into his music heart and country soul

The Otto show: James Otto's top five country hit, Just Got Started Lovin' You, has a slow, slinky groove and a bedroom growl of a vocal that harks back to R&B-influenced records of Ronnie Milsap and Conway Twitty. His Sunset Man album, which has tracks produced by Big & Rich's John Rich and Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus, made its debut at No. 3 on Billboard's albums chart last week, selling nearly 60,000 copies.

The 34-year-old singer/songwriter considers himself a proponent of what he calls country soul....

To me, our guy is traditional country and not just country soul.

In my opinion for whatever it is worth, our guy can do both because to me you can NOT get anymore traditional country than "Sunset Man" and "When A Woman's Not Watching" and I love it!!! (smiles)

It was great. Hopefully his country soul will inspire others to join in and step outside the bounds of traditional country. I like the traditional dont get me wrong. But I love James Otto!!
